There aren’t many food holidays I pay attention to but I do love a good National Coffee Day celebration. This year, National Coffee Day lands on Saturday, September 29. Depending on what kind of research you’re seeking, you’ll learn that coffee consumption is bad for you (I don’t read those studies.) or drinking coffee is good for your heart (I’m partial to those studies.). Why not take a moment to celebrate this delicious nectar of the gods and what powers most Americans every morning? For those who like to spike their coffee with vodka, Van Gogh introduced the Van Gogh Espresso and Van Gogh Double Espresso coffee flavored vodka in 2005. I’ll admit, I prefer to drink my coffee black without any booze but coffee-flavored vodka intrigued me enough to pause and consider how it’d taste. If you’re game to giving it a shot (pun intended), here are some cocktail recipes using the Van Gogh coffee-flavored vodkas to try: CARA MIA
  • 2 oz. Van Gogh Dutch Caramel
  • 1 oz Van Gogh Double Espresso
Shake all ingredients very well with ice and strain into an ice-filled rocks glass. Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg and ground cinnamon.
